Description
In Carmen #YesAllWomen, Loose Tea strives to give the opportunity for Carmen to be told in a modern context, where the story is told through her eyes, as a strong independent woman striving and achieving within a patriarchal society and the dangers that she faces simply for doing that. This work explores how film, projections and sound can help tell the story and engage the audience more deeply into the inner feelings and experiences of the characters.

Press & Reviews
“I really hope that Alaina gets the chance to fully flesh this beast out. It should be fascinating.”
Operaramblings“Viau’s work with Loose TEA is taking a more direct tack now, and she’s decided to use the company to examine the struggle of women in today’s society. Attacking constructs and displaying these struggles in intimate venues where the issues won’t be glossed over by the grandeur of the standard performing practice. I found that this interpretation of Carmen was a perfect match for that, and I’m looking forward to it’s development.”
